On this week’s helping of The Football Manager Football Show, we’ve got some immediate reaction to the announcement from the Sports Interactive announcement on changes coming down the track for FM24 and FM25.
We’ll get into it more down the line but it’s safe to say that, on paper, it’s a bold statement that sets out a clear path for the future of Football Manager and should go a long way towards easing some long-term fans’ concerns over the current iteration of the game. If you’ve not read it, check the developer blog update here and the Eurogamer interview here.
As October turns into November, we’ve also got ourselves some Champions League action, the next round of the League Cup and two rounds of Premier League fixtures where injuries are starting to mount for Liverpool but wins are proving hard to come by for Man United.

The table above gives you an idea of where we are in the league after seven games. Liverpool’s drawn game with Everton means Ken is topping the table on goal difference from Man City while Shane’s rocky start to the season has seen just one win to date with five defeats leaving Man Utd in 16th.

One of the surprises of the league though, as you might pick up on in this week’s podcast, is that after seven games played, the scoring charts look a bit wild. Dominic Calvert-Lewin almost gutted Liverpool in the 1-1 draw but already has 10 goals to his account with Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Raúl Jiminéz on seven goals apiece. Mo Salah has five to his account but he’s looking at four months out so he won’t last on that chart very long while Erling Haaland is looking a little more like a goal every other game for the moment – hopefully, it stays that way.
